Most Western New York Sailplane and Electric Flyers competition events, fun-flys and summer meetings WERE held at the Erie Community College South Campus.

Unfortunately for WNYSEF, the availability of this field for flying has come to an end. CONSTRUCTION ON THE NEW STADIUM HAS BEGUN, FLYING HERE IS NOT APPROVED BY WNYSEF.

SLOPE SOARING:
On days that the wind is from the West or the Northwest and wind speeds are approximately 15MPH or more, you may find many of our members enjoying some fast-paces flying at our slope soaring site.
Directions from Buffalo to the slope soaring site:

Take the NYS Thruway (I-90) to head South on the Route 219 expressway.

Stay on the expressway all the way to the end at Springville.

Exit the Route 219 expressway at the end by turning left then right at the light to stay on Route 219.

Continue South on Route 219 for 10.3 miles (16.5 Km). Bear right onto Plato Rd.

Go 1.2 miles (2 Km) and turn right onto Jackman Hill (sign may be down).

Go .3 miles (.5 Km) and turn left onto Plato-Mansfield Rd.

Go .7 miles (1.1 Km) and turn left onto Mason Hill Rd.

Go .6 miles (1 Km) and turn left onto Tough Row Hill Rd. (no road sign) opposite the bar/restauraunt on the corner.

Go up the hill approximately 1/2 mile (.8 Km) and park on the side of the road. You will find a large rock in the pasture about 25 yards from the fence where flyers congregate. You are there!
